Union Street Center Environmental Observation Assessment

Artifact files

Overview

This artifact is an environmental observation assessment of Union Street Center completed from the perspective of my role as Assistant Coordinator for Center Management. It examines how physical space, organizational structure, and environmental factors influence student development and community life in a residential setting.

My Role

I conducted the assessment and analyzed the physical environment, structural environment, CECE indicators, and person-environment interaction within Union Street Center.

What This Demonstrates

This artifact demonstrates my ability to think critically about residential life as an educational environment rather than only a housing operation. The assessment pushed me to move beyond description and instead analyze how space communicates values, shapes behavior, and influences belonging. It also shows that I can connect theory, observation, and practice in order to better understand student experience. This perspective is important because it informs how I approach residential settings as spaces that affect learning, engagement, and well-being.
